"Style It Out" Competition at Lenox Mall
Events in the city of Atlanta are always full of fun and energy, especially the ones that celebrate black innovators and visionaries. Macy’s Celebrated Black History Month by putting on an event at Lenox Mall hosted by Ashlee K. Thomas from MUCE (Miami Urban Contemporary Experience) that was all fun, fashion, and more. The event paid homage to black culture with individual performances by gospel singer, Karmyn, and RnB Artist, Jori. The event was curated by Magic City Fashion Week based in Birmingham, Al., and the “Style It Out” competition featured four up and coming stylists using Macy’s collection and these curated pieces. The stylists were given four pioneers (Dapper Dan, Rihanna Fenty, Michelle Obama, and Ursula Burns) who excel both in their respective industries, but also, in fashion as well. Given only eight minutes, the stylist had to execute, as well as, put their own twist on each look. With the audience’s vote, Gavon Owen was the winner of the competition. Enjoy each stylist's celebrity inspired looks below!
